MARTYN WEBB

artist/printmaker

The main body of work was created during the exploitation of objects using the media of print. The process adopted is simplistic, the image is produced in a single instance in the meeting of the printing surface and the material being printed. The translation from three dimensional to two dimensional, produces images that are abstract and representational simultaneously. The iconic graphic images question our complex visual relationship with the everyday things that fill our lives. The two dimensional prints command an authority and integrity which the three dimensional items do not possess.

The child related images illustrate the memories that become attached to the material of childhood. Childhood detritus have a role as relics, they are receptacles of memories, they absorb the residues of experience.
